Ted came to the Blowing Rock Conference Center as a seasonal employee in 2005. Ted’s entire career has been in Outdoor Ministry and Camping in one way or another; prior to working at BRCC, he served as a Trail Crew Foreman for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Since 2005, Ted has worked in all departments at BRCC, and enjoys the dynamics that Outdoor Ministry has to offer.
“Being the Director allows me to wear many different hats, so the days are never boring. There are many things that I enjoy about working at BRCC, but the most rewarding are the relationships that I have made over the years with our group leaders and guests.”
Ted lives on the campus of BRCC with his wife Jamie and their dog Dolly and cat Grover.
Martha Shore has been with the Blowing Rock Conference Center for 26 years. If you have ever spent any time at BRCC, you have probably met Martha.
Martha serves the Blowing Rock Conference Center as our Director of Marketing and Finance, but it is hard to encompass her work in a title.
Her intentional hospitality is what makes her stand out the most, and everything that she does is because of her immense love of people. Martha enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Rooney, and she also has a mild obsession with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Linda Smith has been with the Blowing Rock Conference Center for 19 years. As with most employees at BRCC she has worked in all departments, but she is most at home as our Food Service Director. Over the last 12 years she has taken our food service from good to great.
Many of our guests report back to us that the food was the best part of their retreat at BRCC. She makes a point to ensure that everyone is fed, so no matter what your dietary needs are, she will make something nutritious and tasty just for you.
Linda enjoys spending time with her grand-daughters, husband, and two children. If she ever gets a sunny day off she enjoys spending it at Wilson Creek.
Amie has been with the Blowing Rock Conference Center for 5 years. Amie is our head housekeeper, and she can be seen leading our housekeeping crew through their day to day operations.
Amie also works in our food service department, and she is a very talented baker. Her passion for Outdoor Ministry can be seen in the hospitality that she puts toward serving all of our guests.
Amie has three children, so her plate is pretty full, but when time allows she loves going to listen to live music.
Jared has been with the Blowing Rock Conference Center for 9 years. He came to us as a high school senior, worked for us while he pursued a degree in Finance and Business from Appalachian State University, and after graduation he joined us full time.
Jared works in all departments here at BRCC, but he serves as our night time kitchen manager during our peak times. His dedication to our mission can be seen in the hospitality that he extends to our guests.
Jared enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
Larry Grimm is new to the Blowing Rock Conference Center. He took on the Director of Operations position in January 2018. Larry retired after working 30 years as a police officer in Sunrise, Florida. He has quickly made himself an asset here at BRCC, and he is excited to learn and grow into this position. Larry and his wife Melissa are excited to live in the mountains, and to get away from the Florida heat. Larry enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and backpacking, and riding his Harley Davidson.
